Christmas brings out the impresario in all of us.

Fortnum’s is a theatre and every day they put on a show. This Christmas the aim is to exaggerate and emphasise this with tender quirky detail, humour and irony. Playing on tradition and the seasonal form of entertainment: Pantomime, but mixed with a little dusting of Burlesque magic.

Red October

The month October has become famous as ‘Red October’, due to the Bolshevik Revolution which started on 25 October 1917. Russia was in turmoil with major issues affecting social, economic, and political relations. Russia’s national debt had risen to 50 billion rubles and there were no IMF bail-outs on offer.

One week till Halloween; grab a pumpkin

October is the tenth month of the year, which is strange when you consider that it comes from the Latin ‘octo’ meaning eight. The Romans didn’t seem too bothered when they added July and August, named after Julius and Augustus Caesar respectively, before it in the calendar.
